HEALTH AND PLACE RESEARCH LAB
Welcome to HPR
about
The Health and Place Research lab, aka the Downing lab, conducts psychosocial research to understand and improve the health and well being of underserved and minoritized populations. Our research centers on interactions between individuals and their settings, and how those interactions may influence perceptions, decision making, behavior, and health. This work is informed by environmental and social psychology theories, social epidemiology, as well as behavior change models.
RESEARCH PRIORITIES
We investigate neighborhood-level disparities in sleep health.
We seek to improve health outcomes associated with childhood sexual abuse (CSA).
