The Health and Place Research Lab, aka the Downing Lab, conducts psychosocial research to understand and improve the health and well being of underserved and minoritized populations. This work centers on interactions between individuals and their settings, and how those interactions may influence perceptions, decision making, behavior, and health.

Our studies are informed by environmental and social psychology theories, as well as behavior change models.
